Jody J. Pilmer

Jody J. Pilmer is originally from San Angelo, Texas. He graduated from Texas A&M University in 1995 with a BBA in Accounting and obtained his law degree in 1999 from the Texas Tech University School of Law. He moved to Denver immediately thereafter to practice law and is admitted to practice in all Colorado state courts. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Pilmer spent most of his career in public service as a criminal prosecutor. He began his career at the Adams County District Attorney’s Office in 2000. When he left the office in 2007, he was a Senior Deputy District Attorney with significant trial experience and had spent several years in the Child Victim’s Unit handling felony cases involving child abuse and sexual assaults on children. In 2007, Mr. Pilmer opened his own practice and contracted with the State of Colorado through the Office of the Child’s Representative to provide legal representation to abused and neglected children. In 2010, Mr. Pilmer took a position with the Colorado State Attorney General’s Office as a Senior Assistant Attorney General. During his five years with that office, he was responsible for maintaining a grant, overseeing the Attorney General’s Auto Theft Unit, and prosecuting complex organized crime through use of the state grand jury. Mr. Pilmer’s recent grand jury work in that unit has resulted in the indictment and prosecution of 10 complex cases charging multiple defendants with racketeering under the Colorado Organized Crime Control Act. Throughout his career, Mr. Pilmer has tried over 70 jury trials including Child Abuse Resulting in Death, violations of the Colorado Organized Crime Control Act, and Homicide. He has developed the practical skills necessary to analyze, counsel, negotiate, and litigate. His current practice focuses on estate and trust litigation, and contested guardianships and conservatorships.
