Robert P. Horen, was born in Denver, Colorado in 1943 and attended the University of Colorado (B.A., 1965) and the University of Denver (J.D., 1968). While an undergraduate, he enlisted and received his Second Lieutenant's Commission in the United States Marine Corps Reserve upon graduation. When Mr. Horen was admitted to the Colorado Bar, he received orders to active duty and served as a Captain for three years as a Judge Advocate General in the Marine Corps. He is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Military Appeals, the United States Tax Court, the Federal District Court for the District of Colorado and the Colorado Supreme Court. He is a member of the American, Colorado, Denver and Arapahoe County Bar Associations and the Denver Estate Planning Council. Mr. Horen has been awarded the designation 'Accredited Estate Planner' by the National Association of Estate Planners and Councils. He served on the Colorado Bar Association Protective Proceedings Statutory Revisions Committee, which dramatically improved the protection of at-risk children and adults. Mr. Horen has been a speaker at local and national Continuing Legal Education programs including the Southern Methodist University Tax Symposium, The American College and Estate Planning Councils and many laypersons' groups. He is active in community activities, including past service as a Boy Scout (Eagle) and a Scoutmaster (Wood Badge), member for six years and President for three years of the St. Thomas More Parish Finance and Administration Committee, and numerous fund raising activities supporting charitable organizations including Denver Symphony, St. Mary's Academy, Regis Jesuit High School, Little Sister of the Poor and the Universities of Colorado and Denver. He is currently active in: Marked Men for Christ; Denver Consistory Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry (33 degrees) and the Royal Order of Scotland. Mr. Horen's practice focuses on the areas of: elder law; estate planning and administration, including the utilization of advance medical directives, powers of attorney, revocable and irrevocable trusts, wills and life insurance; business entities; and real estate. He has an AV rating with Martindale-Hubbell and is also listed as a Colorado Super Lawyer.
